Linking, sources and corrections policy

The Perry uses links and references to help readers distinguish personal observation from externally verifiable information. This policy explains how sources are selected, how commercial links would be identified and how corrections are handled.

Source selection

For tax, law, data protection, safety and cybersecurity, we prefer current primary or authoritative UK sources such as legislation, GOV.UK, HMRC, the ICO, the NCSC, recognised standards and original product documentation.
For recipes, culture, travel and history, we may use primary sources, specialist institutions, reputable publications and clearly identified personal or family knowledge.
Search popularity may help identify a useful question, but it does not determine the answer or replace factual verification.
Where a statement is uncertain, interpretive or based on experience, we aim to make that status clear.

References and quotations

Relevant articles include a “Sources and further reading” section or links placed close to the claim they support. References identify material consulted; they do not imply that a source endorsed The Perry. Quotations are kept proportionate, attributed and linked where practical. Copyright remains with the original rightsholder.

External links

We select external links for relevance and reader usefulness. Linking to a page does not endorse every statement, product or service on that website. External content, addresses and ownership can change after publication. We do not guarantee an external site’s continued availability, accuracy, accessibility, security or privacy practices.

We may remove or replace a link that becomes broken, misleading, unsafe, irrelevant or materially different from the page originally referenced. A site owner may request a review through the Contact page, but inclusion or removal remains an editorial decision subject to applicable law.

Affiliate, sponsored and gifted content

The Perry does not currently receive commission from the ordinary editorial links in its published articles. If a future link, product, trip, ingredient, service or article involves payment, commission, sponsorship, a gifted item or another material relationship, that relationship will be disclosed clearly where the reader encounters the relevant content. Affiliate or sponsored links will be marked appropriately and will not be presented as independent editorial recommendations.

Corrections and updates

Minor spelling, formatting and broken-link repairs may be made without a correction note.
A material factual correction should be made promptly once verified and, where useful to readers, identified in or near the article with an update or correction date.
Changed official guidance may lead to an article being updated, archived or marked as historical rather than silently left as current advice.
A correction request should identify the page, disputed wording, reason for concern and a reliable supporting source. Do not send confidential records through the form.

Images and credits

Original illustrations are identified as such. Third-party photographs and other media should be used only with a documented licence or permission and an appropriate credit. A public source page is not, by itself, permission to reproduce an image. Concerns about a credit, licence, privacy issue or identifiable person can be reported through the Contact page.

Contact and review

Send factual corrections, broken-link reports and rights concerns through the Contact page. This policy will be reviewed when The Perry introduces new publishing formats, commercial relationships or materially different sources.
